After practicing in a large law firm in Philadelphia for eight years, Chairman Jim Pickering has been the owner of the Law Offices of James H. Pickering, Jr., a three attorney law firm in South Seaville, Dennis Township. Emphasis of the practice is municipal government law, real estate, land use, wills, estates and trusts, and litigation. Pickering has served as municipal prosecutor, zoning board attorney, planning board attorney, municipal hearing officer and municipal solicitor. He served on the local attorney’s District Ethics Committee.

Pickering also served on the Board of Trustees of the Cape May County Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Board of Trustees of the South Seaville United Methodist Church, , the Board of Directors of the Dennis Township Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Board to the Nature Conservancy, Bayshore District.

Chairman Pickering is married to Gretchen Pickering (County Committeewoman, Dennis Township, District 5 (1997-Present). They have one boy, and another little Democrat on the way.
